Evergreen Solar plans to shift production to China

Evergreen Solar Devens company plans to stop production of solar panels, and center of gravity shift of production to China. In the Massachusetts State of the Marlboro company produces silicon and battery, and assembled into panels. However, the operating costs of the plant is very expensive in China, this cost comparison, relatively small.

Evergreen Solar's decision to have the production moved to China and signed a contract with JIAWEI Solar production of solar cells as well as components. Evergreen will be the production of solar silicon wafers in China, leased JIAWEI Solar company to build factories. Evergreen plans to initially have a capacity of up to 100MW. In 2010 a quarter of production.

SunPower's solar panel conversion efficiency of breaking records

SunPower Corporation recently announced that its large-size solar panels of the total area of the photoelectric conversion efficiency of 20.4% break records. In the United States Department of Energy solar energy in about two years ago in accordance with its U.S. launch plan (SAI) to provide financial support, its prototype solar panels has been developed. In the absence of SAI funding situation, the company launched the world-record efficiency of 96 batteries of solar panels and innovative T5 solar roof tiles.

The new 96 batteries, 333W solar panels using the SunPower's third-generation solar cell technology, the minimum battery photoelectric conversion efficiency of 23%. Solar panels of the total area of 1.6 square meters, including the framework, SunPower Corporation 20.4% conversion efficiency of solar panels to achieve a large size of the maximum efficiency of solar panels, the conversion efficiency by the U.S. National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL ) recognized independent testing facility.

SunPower expects, 20.4% efficient solar panels will be two years actual commercial applications, Shen, the company plans to use automated equipment manufacturing plant in 2010.
